Blogger Recognition Award – part 2
I was surprised and delighted to be recently given the Blogger Recognition Award from two people whose writing I admire. The first was the lovely Lucy at Me Being Mummy, and the second was from Munchkin Shenanigans. Thank you both so much!
If you’ve read my blog for a while, you will know that I was nominated back in May as well (you can read my first post here). Now I have been blogging a little longer though, I thought that my answers might have changed, so I chose to write a fresh post.
The idea is to answer two simple questions, so, without further ado…
Why did I start a blog?
As a slight aside here, did you know that the word ‘blog’ comes from the phrase ‘weblog’? It was coined in the 90s and reflected the process of logging the web. My blog isn’t nearly as profound as that! Sometimes I struggle to log a week of my own life, never mind the Internet. The reason for starting Cup of Toast was very similar though. To log my family and lifestyle – to share it, to practice my writing, and to carve a little bit of me into my routine. My day to day is regularly dominated by school and nursery runs, grocery shopping and car maintenance, and cleaning and sorting. It feels nice to come up for air once in a while and delve into writing here instead.
My advice to a new blogger?
Much like my last post on this, I don’t feel nearly long enough in the tooth to offer much on this point. I would say though, that there is an amazing and incredibly supportive community of bloggers out there. If you’re not sure, ask. Get involved. Join linkies, pods and groups, and, most importantly, enjoy it!
I’m on social media too and always happy to connect! Come over and join me:
