Firstly thank you to Debbie at Squidgydoodle for nominating me for the Sunshine Blogger Award. It’s delightful to receive recognition from a fellow blogger and creative. You can find her fab post here. The Sunshine Blogger Award is given to bloggers who write positive, happy and inspiring content. It provides a good opportunity to find out more about the voice behind the blog. Below I have answered ten questions that Debbie has set me about myself, so that you can all get to know me a little better…
What is your favourite part about blogging?
I love to write. I can lose myself in my writing at almost time of the day, and I find it very relaxing to pop into my writing bubble. I also love the community. I may be lucky but everyone who I have come across is lovely and so supportive.
What would you ask for if the answer was ‘Yes’?
Six months off the hamster wheel of life with my husband and our boys.
Savory or sweet? Give an example of the perfect snack.
It depends on my mood if I’m honest. One evening I can happily crunch through carrot sticks, the next it will be popcorn.
How do you encourage your child/children to be creative?
We have easy access to paper, pens, paint, tissue paper and so on at our house. This helps to ensure that craft, drawing, and writing doesn’t become a set activity but is always there for whenever they want to make or create something. We encourage imaginative play and always follow their lead rather than imposing our (often more restricted) ideas on them. Although we don’t travel as much as we would like to, we do try to get out to new places every week. Whether that’s a museum, a woodland walk or a country fair, we try to arrange our calendar so that we undertake a good variety of activities with them to keep their eyes open to the wonders of the world.
What’s your favourite post you’ve written?
Hmmm. It’s a toss up between ‘Your Post’ or a ‘Letter to my Great Grandchildren’. Both were written absolutely from the heart. I like to think that the former reaches out to anyone who might find themselves in a moment of difficulty and let them know that they aren’t alone. The latter was written when I was pondering what life would look like for my children throughout their lifetime and into their old age, and wanting to continue to look out for them after I am gone.
If you had the chance to live your dream – where would you be and what would you do?
I love where we live right now and it suits us all perfectly in many ways, but my husband and I do regularly discuss the option of emigrating. I could imagine myself sitting near the sea in a faraway land writing fiction. I think that would be amazing.
What would your best friend tell me about you?
That I’m honest and kind, and that I always consider the happiness of those around me (their words!).
If you could be any superhero, who would you be and why?
I wasn’t sure about this one. My husband thinks I would be Elastigirl!
Glitter – love it or hate it?
What’s your perfect day?
Spending time with family. They mean everything to me, not just my boys and my husband but my sisters, parents and extended family.
So there you have it! Now let’s continue the fun… if you could only answer one of the questions above which one would you choose and what would your answer be? Drop me a note in the comments below.
