Ten Things That Make Me Happy
I was tagged by the lovely Heidi over at Southern Mummy to write about 10 things that make me happy. There are so many things in my life that I am extremely grateful for that join together to make me very happy, but with some umming and ahhing I have narrowed it down to 10.
I always dreamed of having children. I’m sure that my parents had moments during my teenage years when they were terrified that I might get a bit too serious with my boyfriend at the time. Now I am so incredibly lucky to be a mama to three awesome boys who amuse me, drive me crazy and make me feel so very proud and happy. I watch them as they change through those very early stages into confident, independent people and love every moment of it.
My family and friends
My husband, sisters, parents, wider family and friends are all so very important and special to me. I am happiest surrounded by people I love, having a good chin wag!
In any form, what’s not to love about chocolate?! I definitely believe in the theory that it gets the old serotonin flowing, or that’s my excuse anyway 😉
I come from a musical family with talent on all sides. I love music and will happily immerse myself in almost any genre to relax. We have speakers dotted around the house and I love listening to one tune or another whilst I work or undertake household chores.
I wouldn’t be without our various pets – a dog, cat, cockatiel, two guinea pigs and two snails. Our boys dote on them all too, and love to help look after them and give them cuddles!
Running, jumping, walking or dancing, moving around helps to blow away the stresses of the day. My peculiar form of mum dancing amuses the children too, win win!
The high UV in the summer can trigger my fatigue, but still I feel happy getting outside in the sunshine and feeling its warmth. I live for late autumn though, when the UV factor has reduced and I can really enjoying the sunshine for the remainder of the year without the side effects!
As regular readers will know, I recently undertook the #30DaysWild challenge. I was so excited to do this. Being outside and observing our natural world makes me feel very relaxed. Somehow watching ants scuttling about, observing bees, listening to the wind in the trees, or smelling the newly grown flowers in our garden puts life into perspective for me.
We haven’t been abroad (yet!) since we’ve had our boys, but we still love to travel. Seeing new places, meeting new people and learning about new communities makes me very happy.
Don’t get me wrong, I love to treat myself to new films when they come out too, but there’s something about watching an old film that really helps me to wind down at the end of a busy day. As the boys are getting older I’m enjoying sharing some of the classics with them too. Although it’s not super old, one of their current favourites is Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, which will be 50 next year!
